Veeral Tolia, MD, is Mednax’s research director of the Clinical Data Warehouse (CDW), one of the largest and most robust neonatal outcomes databases in the world. In this role, he analyzes CDW data to generate clinical hypotheses and improve care. Dr. Tolia practices neonatology as part of Pediatrix Medical Group of Texas in Dallas, where he also serves as director of neonatal research and faculty member at Baylor University Medical Center. He is the principal investigator and primary author for multiple research studies; his clinical interests include neonatal abstinence syndrome, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, continuous quality improvement and health services research.
As co-director, Dr. Tolia spearheads the Dallas-Fort Worth Collaborative, a regional, inter-professional quality improvement workgroup of 17 NICUs from six different health systems focused on reducing morbidity and mortality in premature infants. He also serves as assistant professor, clinical and faculty advisor and NICU MS4 Sub-internship course director at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in Bryan.
Dr. Tolia received his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his pediatric residency at the Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital of Loyola University and neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine/Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
